Why does UTUA recommend the Ajwaa Visa Infinite card?

The Ajwaa Visa Infinite is the premium credit card from Aljazira Bank, designed for people who travel frequently and look for exclusive benefits at airports, hotels, and convenience services inside and outside Saudi Arabia, as we’ll cover in detail throughout this text.

Before that, though, we want you to know that this is a fairly safe option in the Kingdom, since the issuing bank has a track record of more than four decades of operation, backed by the supervision of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). These factors are a relevant sign of solidity for anyone considering applying for the Ajwaa Visa Infinite.

What makes the Ajwaa Visa Infinite attractive for people who travel?

The main advantage of the Ajwaa Visa Infinite lies in the combination of points earned on spending and comfort-focused travel benefits. Unlimited access to VIP lounges, for instance, is a feature valued by frequent travelers, since it reduces the wear of waiting at airports and allows a guest to join at no extra cost per visit.

Add to that the included travel insurance and medical assistance, which bring an extra layer of security for anyone who spends a good part of the year away from home. The Ajwaa Rewards program, in turn, works as an additional incentive to concentrate international spending on the card, since the points earned on purchases made outside Saudi Arabia are higher than those earned on local purchases.

Accumulated points can be redeemed for flights, hotel stays, car rentals, and products, giving flexibility to those who prefer to redeem experiences rather than cash back. The 24-hour concierge rounds out this package, helping with reservations and day-to-day requests.

Fees and charges of the Ajwaa Visa Infinite

One of the most important things to understand before applying for the Ajwaa Visa Infinite is its cost structure. The annual fee is 900 riyals, an amount subject to 15% Value Added Tax (VAT). For those who make purchases outside the country, the foreign transaction fee (international transaction fee) is 2% of the amount spent, which deserves attention from frequent travelers.

Since this card is issued by an Islamic bank, there is no “interest” charged in the traditional sense: the model used is Tawarruq, with a monthly profit rate of 2.5% and an equivalent annual profit rate of 30% on the outstanding balance. The APR (Annual Percentage Rate) disclosed in the official terms is 40.95%, which reinforces how important it is to avoid carrying a balance for long periods.

There is also a cash advance fee of 3% on withdrawals below 2,500 riyals, or a flat fee of up to 75 riyals for withdrawals above that amount, in addition to a late payment penalty set out in the contract for overdue payments, a card replacement fee of 15 riyals, and a dispute fee of 25 riyals per case.

The minimum monthly payment is 5% of the balance or 200 riyals, whichever is higher, and Aljazira Bank states that, for a credit limit of 7,000 riyals, it would take 51 months to pay off the balance by making only the minimum payment. Below, you’ll find our take on the strengths and points of attention that should factor into your decision.

Author’s opinion

In our assessment, the Ajwaa Visa Infinite tends to pay off for a specific profile: people who travel frequently and can genuinely make use of the lounge access, travel insurance, and free transfers the card offers.

For that audience, the benefits can outweigh the cost of the annual fee and the charges involved. For those who travel less, or who use the card mainly for everyday purchases, it’s worth considering whether a product with a simpler cost structure wouldn’t better suit their needs, without giving up financial comfort.

It’s worth stressing that the high APR and the monthly profit rate make carrying debt on this card expensive over time. That’s why we recommend that anyone interested in the Ajwaa Visa Infinite review their income, fixed expenses, and real ability to pay the full statement balance every month before applying, so as to avoid building up debt and paying only the minimum amount over long periods.
